  1. some folks are so talented. the coloring, the designs that some folks produce amaze me. you can just imagine i'm talking about you just starting this off with something positive for a change.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Would you send either of the MIM cards to anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I suck at coloring! I wish I was that talented, I'm also not that patient either! Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I love to Copic color. It is relaxing. I took an online class and took off from there. However, I struggle with putting the colored imaged in a card design. So I maybe relaxed but its a little counter productive. :-)

  5. I picked up three Spectrum Noir packages (6 markers in each): Yellows, Greens and Reds. They were $5.99 at Marshalls. They're $11.91 at SSS.

Anyone have any experience with them? Better, worse, same as Copics?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I was one tempted to buy the spectrum markers, the price sure makes them easy to buy, but I think I saw a video that says that the spectrum markers are not refillable like copics. But I guess running out shouldn't be a problem for me since I don't color! Ha ha

    ReplyDelete
  7. I have had Copics for 4 years but I don't like to color. They are going to dry out from non-use!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Just google spectrum noir refills and you will see you were misinformed

I like them much better. I had Copic Ciao markers and didn't like the flimsy brush tip. Instead of buying Original Copics, I got SN for much less.

I also like the color range for blending better. Never did use the number system with Copics - just didn't make good combinations. But I can use the numbers for SN.

Equal if not better IMHO. ideally, try both (and the various Copic styles if you can) of them yourself before investing.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Personally, I find the Copics more blendable and I prefer the smaller tip for detail work.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ooh i see, Thanks for the info on the SN markers. I didn't know you could refill. That's cool.

BTW I bought some of that Recollections 110lb card stock and it's pretty awesome and way cheaper than PTI. I'm no expert in cardstock but it's really nice quality and I can't really tell the difference between PTI and Recollections. I picked up both white and Ivory and I love them both. It's regularly 12.99 but you can use a 40% coupon and you get 100 sheets. Score!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I am also switching to Recollections!

    ReplyDelete
  12. The recollections is not cover weight and it's not that great, sorry! But that said, Neenah solar white or Avery Elle ultra smooth white are fantastic. With only a few exceptions, you can get any color you want from another company. PTI used to be the only game in town, but not anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I also have recollections paper that I bought a month ago. I think it's cover weight, idk which one you bought 3:34, but the one I have is pretty thick and sturdy. I happen to think it's pretty good, and I've tried a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 3:34 why do you say is not cover weight? It's the same thickness as PTI. I'm sorry it didn't work for you, but it works for me. To each it's own.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It's not just thickness, it's density. It's not a matter of opinion. There are different types of paper. if you go to a paper store, you would ask to see their 100-120 lb cover weight paper. The Michael's cs is softer and flimsier.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree Anonymous 4:06. I love Papertrey cardstock. I have many colors of Stampin' Up and the quality is just not the same. I would compare PTI's with Gina K maybe but not Recollections or Stampin' Up in terms of weight and sturdiness.

    ReplyDelete
  17. OMG! Dawns cards are absolutely digusting today! She must be colorblind!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why did Cath stop doing Moxy Fab World? Was it not just a personal blog?

Or was someone actually PAYING her to post random photos here and there?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I liked Moxie Fab quite a bit. Not every post, but overall I really liked it. I liked the exposure to different stampers and different manufacturers.

It was not her personal blog, rather a way to promote PaperCrafts. Now that they have gone digital, I'm sure this free blog would be overlapping and competing with their paid online content.

    ReplyDelete
  20. PaperCrafts terminated Cath by eliminating her editorial position. I'd be surprised if they do much of anything in the blogosphere any more. Sucks for her. I hate it when people get laid off...even if it is someone I dislike (not saying I dislike Cath, just saying that in general). Sucks to have your paycheck eliminated. I hope she finds something she enjoys and is good at doing. Always a plus to enjoy your job.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think PC got rid of the editorial position she was in. But she could have continued in a non-editorial position (read both her post and the PC post carefully). I think she did not want to stay as a non-editor.

    ReplyDelete
  22. With the exception of Melissa, it was like an ugly card contest to look at the peeks this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Those small tipped dies look really strange. The large ones are great, medium okay.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I didn't follow Cath. Reading her post you would think this is earth shattering. Yes it's always hard to lose a position or a job but heck I've been through that lots of times, and lost real life connections with people I cared deeply about, and never would have thought for one second to gush and carry on so. A bit OTT IMHO.

This is a good example of how "celebrity " in this hobby is out of control.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Are you freaking kidding me ?!?!

People need a due to cut their cardstock at an angle ?!?!

If orders for those are actually placed by any doofus stupid enough to be taken in by this nonsense, I would not be surprised if Nichole and her clan have a good laugh over the gullibility of their customers.

Now I've seen it all. What the hell is wrong with people?!?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Damn phone. DIE not due. GRRRRR

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anyone else find the "Card requests for premature baby turning 1" thread on SCS just kind of strange?

    ReplyDelete
  28. And the SCS saga continues:

"New development - a new level of low for Papertrey Ink...
I thought it was a little strange and too coincidental that shortly after this incident, I could no longer get to Papertrey's forum page...when I tried to go there, it just kept acting like the site was down (saying that it had "timed out"). When this continued for days, I got even more suspicious. My husband is an IT expert so I asked him to look into it. After multiple tests, all evidence suggests that THEY HAVE BLOCKED MY IP ADDRESS from access to their forum.

Now, keep in mind that I never posted anything negative at all on THEIR site. This was a preemptive action to make sure that I would be unable to post anything negative on their site that someone might see before they had a chance to catch it and delete it. Pretty unbelievable, huh?"

    ReplyDelete
  29. Pricecheck is a big fat cunt!

    ReplyDelete
  30. 10:07, Yes, I would also find that very very strange. Sometimes you have to wonder about some of the people on SCS. Generally, I like it there and there are a lot of great people -- but there are weird things there, too.

I also am bugged there by the people who ask a question that can be answered with plugging a few words into Google or another search engine. Or things that would best be answered by simply contacting a company or a specific person on SCS. No, they are lazy. They want everyone else to do it for them.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't care if Rachel is right or wrong - she needs to spend her time on something else!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Pricecheck is annoying, but lest not call people nasty names.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If I were Rachel I would need a supportive place to vent rather than go postal. SCS has provided that for her. I don't blame her one bit. I appreciate very much knowing that they have not changed at all.

    ReplyDelete
  34. yeah, but enough is enough already. She's unhappy and PTI has crappy customer service. It's out there. People are seeing it. She doesn't have to go on and on ad nauseum.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It is really not surprising that PTI has banned Rachel from the forum. It keeps her from using their For Sale forum to unload her stash.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agreed 10:07... that's just a really odd request. Glad to know her premie has made it to her first birthday, but to blatantly ask for cards is really weird. I could see if a friends of hers was posting asking for the cards, but for HER to be asking is just strange. Of course, maybe I'm just in the overly-cynical crowd...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sometimes we overly cynical people are the only ones thinking clearly ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. If you don't like Rachel's comments don't read them. They banned me so I could not sell my stash either. Actually, letting anyone sell costs them profits. I am surprised their greed hasn't figured this out yet.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Rachel sounds more and more cray-cray obsessed. Rachel you're just watering down the episode. Stop posting and let it simmer on it's own. Believe me, PTI is hanging itself.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have looked on the PTI forum and cannot find it but am curious as to how Rachel was "snarky" (according to Pricecheck) about that dog set. Anyone remember it?

    ReplyDelete
  41. She wasn't snarky. She simply expressed concern that recipients of some of those sentiments could find them sacreligious (and I agree with her).

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you, 9:51. I, too, know people who would be more offended than laughing about the sentiments in that set. I admit to be taken aback by them and would not use them but wouldn't say I was "offended". I do not like the dog set; however, I know someone else who loves it and will get a lot of mileage out of it. I hope Erin realizes she's now got to come up with a cat set or the cat lovers will be hissing. And I wonder what sentiments she'll use for it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Am I understanding this right... in order to win a whole whoppin' $10 voucher, you have to go comment on 20 blogs?????????? http://www.mftstamps.com/blog/its-time-to-shop-for-the-new-november-products/

    ReplyDelete
  44. "Happy Christmas"? I have never heard anyone say that before.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The new MFT stuff is blah anyways. And Happy Christmas is common in Great Britain, no? I wouldn't use it here in the US.

The PTI DT projects were okay today, but still not tempted to actually pull the trigger on an order:) The only thing I really like is that flag die with "HAPPY", but I can easily Silhouette that. I did put in a SSS order today though!

    ReplyDelete
  46. You can do all those dies on your Silhouette.

    ReplyDelete
  47. sure you can, but i like to use specialty paper like glitter, metallic, cork, etc. Not everything is better on the silhouette unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I use glitter paper, metallic, and cork with my Cameo and have had no problems. There are even setting for some of these mediums.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I've tried and it looks like poop. not to be sassy, but i'm not a silhouette newb and there are just some things that are better done by dies. There's room for both types of product for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I get that the angled layer on cards is a popular style now but it certainly isn't anything new. And I can't believe anyone is stupid enough to buy a die to do that! That's crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  51. 10:25 you probably need a new blade and to work with your settings. I have not had a medium that won't cut like butter on my Cameo. I cut wood veneer paper with it last night.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I was completely bored with the Rachel saga a couple of days ago but this fingerprint business is pretty entertaining.

    Really, Julie? Fingerprints?

I was about to say that if I like something from PTI I'll just buy it knowing I'm taking chances if I have a CS issue (I never have but I know it's possible). But this is so ridiculous - these people should just give up. You can't run a business like that. Nichole seems to be running out of good ideas anyway. Just call it a day and take your money and run.

    ReplyDelete
  53. let it go, 10:54. suffice to say that I know how to use my silhouette and it does not cut everything that my dies can cut.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would never waste an expensive Silhouette blade cutting felt or cork. Dies have their place.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 11:04 am,
Link to fingerprint talk, please. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  56. On the SCS thread about PTI CS/Rachel.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Placed an order with MFT - first one in a long time. A few dies and stamps and trying out the ink.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I liked several of the DTs samples today. But will be using my Silhouette for my own one liner die cuts. Easier to mass produce too.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think the RAchel thread is gone. Will check out her blog.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Nope, not deleted.

    http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/general-stamping-talk-f17/sharing-experience%3B-crafters-must-aware-t580561.html

    ReplyDelete
  61. It says something like Sharing an Experience - crafters be aware. In general stamping. Not PTI forum - SCS.

    ReplyDelete
  62. great work sherlock

    ReplyDelete
  63. I like the word diecuts too but with a Silhouette would never buy them as dies.

The MFT dies I bought are ones that I can't find any cut files for, and they aren't very expensive either so it's worth it on those.

There must have been some kind of lapse in the refresh on my end here because when I posted at 7:13, the previous post wasn't showing. Sorry that was such an inconvenience for you, jerk.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Dawn likes strange colors.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Love it a lot on the one thing

    ReplyDelete
  66. The Well Wishes stamp set is one of those things that I suspect will go the poorly phrased or inappropriate territory. Hope they didn't "go there" this time.

Again though, I have to wonder - do you really need a stamp to express every single thought you want to share by sending a card?? What do you write when you've loaded up with stamped sentiments that say *everything* ???

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm pretty sure one half will be really good and one half will be things I'd never use.

Time to print my own! Thanks for the ideas, PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  68. 'when you get a cancer diagnosis'???? Would anyone seriously put that on a card?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Here are some they should do next:

When your husband has an affair with the neighbor---

When you are texting and get in a car accident---

    When you have stomach cramps--

    When you have bad breath---

When you get put on probation at work---

    When you have PMS-

When the house is a mess and you are too depressed to clean--

When you step on the scale and are at your record high--

When you drank too much at that party---

When your kid is in jail--

    ReplyDelete
  70. LOL.

Yeah, that "cancer diagnosis" one didn't sit well with me either.

Sometimes being too specific is not a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I would not stamp the words "cancer diagnosis" on a card. Wow, that's depressing. Can't it be phrased better? I have given more cancer-related cards these past few years, and I wouldn't ever put something that blunt on a card. Also, the phrase "surgery day" is weird. All the commas and periods make wonder as well. I prefer for the punctuation to be left out (especially since most of the sayings are fragments).

The "hugs" card with the dotty treatment is making me itch. I keep thinking "bugs", not "hugs".

    ReplyDelete
  72. 9:10 am - Regarding the cancer diagnosis sentiment, I wouldn't personally send it, but am betting a lot of people would, whether in a handmade or store bought card.

I am liking the "comfy pajamas, cozy bed" poem.

    ReplyDelete
  73. GAH! Who needs, or wants, a reminder in black and white, of their cancer diagnosis??!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. "Thinking of You" covers it all, but doesn't make the company any $$.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am horrified by the "cancer diagnosis" stamp.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Chalk me up as one who wouldn't use it, either... very tacky!

    ReplyDelete
  77. sadly I have cancer and would love ANY cards, including those that remind me of the shit i'm in.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Sorry to hear that, 12:30... my heart goes out to you.

BUT, I also don't think I'd be too fond of telling someone they're "loved more than you know" either. I love you so much more now that you have this awful disease???

    ReplyDelete
  79. 12:30 PM - So very sorry to hear that. You will be in my thoughts.

And 9:36 AM - thanks for the good laugh! Especially the scale one. I'm still smiling.

    ReplyDelete
  80. cancer victim back here! thanks for the kind words. I think I'm going to be fine, this just sucks big time. I'm no rah rah pti fan, but you guys read way too much into these sentiments. unless they are wrong with spelling or grammar I'm good with most sentiments. except anything with the word bliss. that word is evil

    ReplyDelete
  81. LOL - evil bliss!

I, too, am sorry you are battling that dreaded disease, 1:46. Best wishes to you.

One reason there aren't sentiment stamps for a lot of very specific things is that it is really hard to come up with the right thing to say. I understand that they were trying to address the most difficult situations but they really missed the mark. The comfy PJs poem is cute and variations on get well soon and recuperation are really good. But I think the whole point is that the sentiments expressing concern need to have a strong "feel" for positivity. Some of these new ones from PTI are seriously off.

Really, I think most people see even just the arrival of the card as an expression of a friend's concern and interest. . . a simple "thinking of you," "you're on my mind," "sending good thoughts," etc., is enough for a stamp or printed message, and then of course a more personalized handwritten note. Just a few words.

This all reminds me of way back when I bought Hallmark cards. I don't know when it started but at some point they began marketing the recipient-specific ones and my goodness they ran the gamut. I expected to find one for "my dear cousin's stepdaughter," or some such nonsense. Does anyone send a card to someone who doesn't already know what their relationship is, lol!?! This is kind of the same thing. Do you really want to say "surgery day" or a specific medical diagnosis?? They know it, you know it... it's a GREETING card, not a "let's list all the details" card.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Seriously? ACN thinks angled strips of cardstock would be good for a MIM video??? She thinks we're just all dumb sheep.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Erin's couch/TV card is baaaaaad!

    ReplyDelete
  84. All this hoopla surrounding Rachel and her plate, and she still fails to mention the fact that she sent a used plate back instead of the new plate. When is she going to admit her lie??

    ReplyDelete
  85. 12:30, I am sorry about the diagnosis. I would never, in a million years, send you a card reminding you of such diagnosis. I know you don't NEED to be reminded - but, I guess it just offends my sensibilities.

    ReplyDelete
  86. 4:24, someone IS lying. Who has the reputation of past lies? Who has the reputation of greed? Past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  87. 12:30 - wishes to you for the best outcome

Nicole drumming up the liner dies on the forum - desperate? I think people like them generally, but maybe all too quiet this release. Not a huge outpouring as a result either.

    ReplyDelete
  88. When will they figure out that many of us are going to die cutting machines these days? Also, sentiment stamps are generally for beginners. Anyone with a decent collection hardly needs more sentiments UNLESS they are something really special. I already have dozens of "Get Well" type stamps.

    ReplyDelete
  89. i am not going to die!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. she means she is not going to die cutting machines. it's a grammar thang

    ReplyDelete
  91. Rachel goes on and on about how she hates PTI and is encouraging everyone to stop ordering from them, and then she says she is going to place an order using her rewards points. How much you want to bet all of the products she gets will be gently used with fingerprints all over them.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I don't think that there is anything wrong with her using her rewards. She earned them. What is it - 1 reward for every $25 spent? That works out to $1100 in purchases. Using the rewards only benefits Rachel, not PTI, so she should go for it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. As of right now, Rachel has 61 posts total on SCS. 49 of them are on this one thread. Yes, I counted. I was curious. Yep, she's definitely on a crusade!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I agree she should use those points and then be done with them. Benefit herself.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Rachel made her point and then let us know she stands unwavered. She got her money back with Paypals assistance. She needs to show some class and be done. She is taking her well made claim and making it sound obsessive and crazy. Rachel please stop. You have alot of support.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I do believe that is the worst release EVER!!!

    ReplyDelete
