Happy Day-Before-Thanksgiving, Smackers!

138 comments:

  1. I'll post first! Any good crafty Black Friday deals? We know PTI won't participate but what about any of the other stamp companies?

    ReplyDelete
  2. Incidentally, PTI has not raised their stamp, paper or ink prices since they first started in 2006. And with rewards, they automatically give 4% discount off of all of their prices. Black Friday be damned, I'm going to stick with PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  3. ^^^how strange that the PTI unicorns troll this site and wait to respond. It makes me feel sad for them.

PTI has been on a downward spiral for the past 2 years and the unis just need to come to grips with this. I was thinking about giving PTI another chance, but this uni just made me not want to order. Thanks for keeping me on track whoever you are!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Avery Elle just blogged that they'll be having a sale on Friday. Details tomorrow, though. Not sure about anywhere else, but please share if you see something!

    ReplyDelete
  5. The people that come here to support PTI, and this includes monkey girl, do just as much harm if not more than negative comments.

    ReplyDelete
  6. scapbook.com has a good sale. Many things 1/2 off.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Black Friday be damned? Good sense be damned. You can have PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The PTI blog hop was pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I was thinking about giving PTI another chance, but this uni just made me not want to order. Thanks for keeping me on track whoever you are!

    -----------------------------------

Thank God you didn't order. You certainly would have had an issue (because they would have singled out your order to fuck with it) and then you would have had to complain. Saved you, and them, a whole lot of hassle. Spend your money elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  10. And by the way - FUCK YOU! I'll order who I want to order from.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Some of you need a good dose of Thanksgiving in your heart.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 12:50 just made me laugh because I pictured it being said in person to 10:16's face (whom I assumed was the intended) and that's just comical. 12:56, agreed!

    ReplyDelete
  13. This version of the PTI smack blogs has certainly brought out the nut jobs! Apparently, buying from PTI makes you one sad person. Thank goodness i stopped buying from them!

    ReplyDelete
  14. 1:53 PTI buyers are the happy ones. Smackers are the unhappy ones. They prove it with all the negative comments. Why do you continue to stalk them if you despise the company. Let it go and find something else that brings you pleasure.

    ReplyDelete
  15. You bet they are happy. You can tell it by their holly, jolly Pollyanna forum where not a sad word is ever spoken because they have all been smoking the same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  16. if you are so happy with PTI, why are you here? the trolls who come here and defend PTI or, worse yet, post nonsense to distract/discourage real discussion here are the real losers.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "Stamp Smack" - I appreciated your last comment on the last post ;)

Let the unis and trolls enjoy their PTI purchases. Personally, I get tired of some of my stamps after awhile and need to resell and buy something new. I can't buy PTI because I can't resell them. No one ever seems to want them. I tend to sell locally though, so maybe I should try an online forum but I don't like the hassle of shipping.

I suspect there are a lot of people who buy used but only want more current items, and see the older stuff as outdated. I wonder. . . if I were just getting acquainted with PTI products, knowing that they release several new sets every month, I'm not sure if I'd go back and hunt through old offerings on the difficult website.

As for the "4% rewards," IMO that doesn't really compare to sales that are 25% to 40% off (or even more!) this time of year. It would be a good way for PTI to clear out some older inventory. But maybe they don't have as much inventory as people think. Are people trying to buy older sets and finding that they are out of stock?

Anyway - let them have PTI. But it still boggles the mind that those who love the company are coming to a smack blog. What purpose? To defend it? Well. . . that's just silly. Smackers should be far off their radar, but they're not. I can't figure out why that is.

    ReplyDelete
  18. OMG. So I was wondering if you could still check inventory by adding large quantities to your cart. You can.

There's a set I always think of because it would typically be right up my alley but I thought they did a terrible job and I was disappointed. They have 250 of it!!!!

WTH is wrong with these people?! They're nuts! They could mark that down 1/2 price, and for $12 (or less), people would probably buy it - if they had their DT do something decent with it. Just think - inventory SITTING THERE - at even $10 each, that's a pretty penny if you even sold 1/2 of them.

    Cuckoo. Really.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 4:36 I like the way you think... we'd get along well!

To those who truly have thanksgiving in their hearts and are here for purposes other than being nasty, I wish a very Happy Thanksgiving! May your holiday be joyous!

    ReplyDelete
  20. When I used to sell used PTI I would get 10-20 inquires on each offering. Now I rarely get one and usually that one falls through. I am giving most of my PTI stuff to a school.

    ReplyDelete
  21. that's because you've alienated people with your condescending posts on the forum., Donna.

    ReplyDelete
  22. you guys who second guess PTI's refusal to have a real sale crack me up. PTI is all about a dream. They sell the illusion that folks can make nice cards if they buy their stuff. It is exclusive, classy and elegant. A real sale would devalue the product. This is PTI's mind set and for the most part it worked, until they revealed themselves as not exclusive, classy or elegant.

I don't and wont buy from PTI but they are making money and I'm not so who am i to second guess their business plan. Carol, what say you?

    ReplyDelete
  23. PTI is thriving. Look how many sets they introduce each month. If there were hurting the releases would be considerably smaller. They are doing something right to survive all these years.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't even see anyone on the main forum named Donna who posts there anymore. Is her ghost posting?

    ReplyDelete
  25. 4:59 - :) Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the smackers, unis, and trolls. . . . if you have happiness and thanks in your heart, rejoice! For those who do not (although I doubt there are any among you who have nothing to be thankful for), I wish you happiness and a grateful heart.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 6:26, I see your point. Yeah, they have that boutique attitude but it is such a facade. I guess they can live in their little dreamworld if they choose to.

In my experience, dreams may ignite a business, but common sense and a practical method are what make it last.

    ReplyDelete
  27. http://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/search.php?author_id=29364&sr=posts

    ReplyDelete
  28. 6:41 - surviving and thriving are two entirely different things.

They may still have multiple sets released every month but the creativity just isn't there like it used to be. Volume does not mean quality. I think they are stuck in the rut of this is what we do and we'll keep on doing it. Their sales and have plateaued and popularity is plateau to plummeting.

I can't think of many reasons they would keep on the same way unless it's pure ego.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Good grief, leave poor Donna alone already. Some of you are just like PTI - living in the past and stuck in a rut. Only you are just rude about it.

I know Donna in passing and she is a good person. She at least had the nerve to post as herself on previous versions of this blog.

For those of you who keep saying it's all crap because people post anonymously, this is the reason why. A few brave souls used to come "here" and post as themselves and they were picked on incessantly over it. And here it is. . . how many blogs later?. . . someone is still suggesting they know who an anon poster is and berating "her."

    ReplyDelete
  30. A sale one, two, three or even four times a year does not "devalue" a product.

A pretty much never-ending sale (like Verve, for instance) DOES devalue a product. I'm sure the owner is a very good person and I'm not trying to put her down, but Verve seems to always be having a sale. I wonder why they don't just lower the prices - it would make no sense to ever buy anything there and pay full price.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OMG, why would Donna post things like that? I am just appalled and she calls herself a teacher and yet she speaks of washi tape and a Cameo machine? What is the world coming to when she has influence over young people. Does her husband know she is such a scoundrel?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think that the fact that PTI is still charging the same for their products, even though the cost of manufacturing them and shipping them has gone way up, is a testament to their commitment to providing a quality product at a fair price. If you want a sale, go to Walmart on Friday and buy all the chinese shit you can fit in your cart.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Now you see, this is the absurdity of defending PTI. This is what it's come to.

You've just insulted every single highly reputable, customer-conscious, quality-conscious, Made-in-the-USA stamp company that has sales.

    To defend PTI.

Honestly, many many many other stamp companies have not raised their prices either.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I wasn't defending PTI. I was just making an observation. Nor did I insult any other company. Not that they don't deserve to be insulted. But it didn't happen in my post.

    ReplyDelete
  35. And I guess that begs the question, if PTI were to have some 20-30% off sale on older sets, would you buy them? And if you wouldn't, then why would you give a rat's ass what they do?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't understand why the DTs highlight an older set every month and yet PTI never offers a discount/sale on that set or other older sets. Why bother? The unis already have the set. Just half tongue-in-cheek.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ^^^
I meant to type 'why bother highlighting the older set then.'

    ReplyDelete
  38. No matter how thoroughly you try to explain some things here, there are some that will never get it without spoon feeding.

No, 7:55, you didn't outright hurl insults at other companies. But there are plenty of companies that make great products and have not raised their prices and still manage to have a sale now and then. By suggesting that buying stamping products from other companies on sale is similar to loading a cart at WalMart with products made in China, is insulting.

Guess what? Some companies have inventory reduction sales. Some have general holiday sales. Some have just for the hell of it sales. And some . . . I know this may be a foreign concept to some of you. . . have what's called a "customer appreciation" sale.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wonder why they got rid if the guest DT spot. They had some big names on there occasionally

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow - I don't even remember the guest DT spot!

That whole conversation about comparing other stamp companies to shopping at Walmart reminds me of Kathleen Kelly telling the interviewer that Joe Fox compared discount books to buying bulk olive oil, lol! Or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  41. ok. This is surprising to read! May someone please explain what is SO bad about PTI? I actually haven't been around this industry for too long. I have seen some of their DT posts and have liked what i have seen, to-date. What the hell is going on?!

    ReplyDelete
  42. 7:48 Just a lot of people who choose to dwell on past mistakes made by this company. They would rather be negative than forgive. No matter what PTI does that's postitive they continue to hate them. I have never had a problem with their customer service or their products so I will continue to shop with them. Their DT is amazing too. Don't let the haters stop you from enjoying PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  43. ^^^ absolutely. I had a different experience with PTI and no longer shop there, but I don't consider myself a hater. I respect your right to purchase and enjoy their products. Happy Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 7:48 -- I earned 3 anniversary sets and it took over a year and countlesss emails, etc to get them. I bought ink that didn't work and PTI makes it difficult to return. If you spend the money to return the ink and they disagree with your opinion of the ink, they will not refund you, give you another ink pad. Rather, they toss the ink or make you pay them to send it back.

A whole lot of other stuff happened, rude comments by the owners, late payments to their DT, shoddy treatment of employees, one of them who comes on here at times to defend them and it just backfires.

Such a strange situation. As I said above, I do not buy from them but enjoy if you do.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think anyone purchasing from PTI should go into the transaction with eyes wide open. The product, when it is good, is very good. When it is bad, customer service can be a crap shoot and your ability to get equitable resolution can be difficult.

I've had good experiences and bad. I continue to purchase from them but at a fraction of what I used to spend. I'm not a hater. However, there are many other companies with great product and equally great customer service. My stamping horizons have been expanded.

    Your money, your choice.

    ReplyDelete
  46. 8:59 I wish everyone had your attitude. I have absolutely no problem with those who chose not to shop with PTI but I do have a problem when they continue to beat up PTI because of their experience and expect others to join their bandwagon. I don't like it when people try to influence my decisions. I am fully capable to decide for myself. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Happy Thanksgiving all! Smack away!

    ReplyDelete
  48. 3 batches of bad ink for which the customers were told they were lying when they com;plained about it.

They let some send some of it back and some of us never got our refunds for it.

They lost a whole pallet of packages and kept it covered up until customers outed them.

I know of 10-11 times I have personally seen on THEIR forum of THEM treating customers really rudely.

I know of at least a dozen times where they point blank told customers they were lying.

People used to have to wait a year and beg and beg to get their prize gifts and then were told to be quiet because it had been sent, when it hadn't.

They made defective plates but that was "owner error".

They have many times not included a stamp, or had a stamp that was poor grammar or not spelled correctly and they expected it to be acceptable.

Any complaints and threads were disappeared.

Reward points for some were removed from their accounts.

A number of loyal customers were banned due to poor judgement of the owners who later recanted.

They will only take a return if you can prove the item has never been used. Your word against theirs.

When you return YOU have to pay the postage back, insure it, and hope they will actually refund you.

Their CS rep, Jenn, who was very helpful, was so embarrassed over company policies that she out of pocket paid for replacements for customers. Rick has recently had to do the same.

What have I missed? It has been years long, repeated things, rudeness, dishonesty and greed.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Any Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales for Simon Says Stamp (SSS) or other stores?

I know SSS is slow, but they are a good one-stop place to shop with reasonable shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  50. STAMP SMACKER,
Have you thought of turning verification on?
It might stop Monkey Ass Sr/Jr from posting as much. It would take them a lot longer. But maybe they have more time to waste.
    Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  51. no verification please. monkey ass my ass. who cares? just scroll and ignore

    ReplyDelete
  52. 12:18 People got banned because of their disrespectful posts. Had they refrained from bad behavior they'd still be there. Personally, I am glad they're gone.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Rick eventually relented and let them come back and publicly said it was HIM who was disrespectful.

    ReplyDelete
  54. whatever happened to Karen, the babe that started this?

    ReplyDelete
  55. There were problems long before Karen. Karen just woke up many of the deniers. But, looks to be a new generation of deniers.

    ReplyDelete
  56. yeah but Karen was the first one with the cahones to go public.

    ReplyDelete
  57. don't forget at one point they DELETED all their customer service emails from people with issues because there were TOO MANY

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh yes, the ability to disappear issues is a real pattern with them.

    ReplyDelete
  59. lil inker finally having a sale and 4 of the 5 items I have been wanting are out of stock!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Well, at least they are not PTI. Then they would be stupid!

    ReplyDelete
  61. The Lil Inker code isn't working anyway. They lose my order.

    ReplyDelete
  62. SSS has its own ink and cardstock now. you buy first and let me know. looks like memories dye. why don't they just tell us who makes the ink????

    ReplyDelete
  63. Just placed my order with Lil Inker. Everything I wanted was there and the code worked.

    ReplyDelete
  64. 10:42,
    They did!!!! You didn't read.

"It was important to source the ink in the USA. Working closely with ink manufacturer Stewart Superior, we have been able to color match our cardstock with Stewart’s Memories formula ink."

A great way to make your stamping count. Available in clear, rubber, self inking, wood mount.

    ReplyDelete
  66. and why would i stamp on money? no thanks

    ReplyDelete
  67. Stewart Superior is where PTI has their ink made. Good luck with that.

    ReplyDelete
  68. ^^^ Don't they make everyone's ink in the USA?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Stamp Smacker, I'm sure it's a huge pain in the neck but thank you for your efforts to delete the nonsense. I am one who still appreciates just coming here for honest talk about different companies, likes and dislikes, customer services, etc. and I'm sorry that you have to keep dealing with these problems.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Count me in as another who appreciates it and still comes here for the same reasons as 1:47.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Me, too, StampSmacker. Thanks for all your efforts. And thanks to the posters for their honest product reviews and shopping experiences.

Now here's a question for all of you. Does anyone have the Cutterpillar Pro V.3? Could you tell me what you like and don't like about this one?

Monkey shines in rhymes always the best kind,

  113. I bought 2 of the sets of lessons from Kerri Bradford. The first one, the introductory one was excellent. The second one moved way too fast.

Pros: You watch on the screen as she does everything. The first set of classes moves at the right pace.

Cons: I just have to say her poor articulation drove me nuts. I am so sick of her saying things like "Whatcha gonna do now is try spacen (for spacing) cause it is time to learn to do alignen with four of 'em".

Set 2 moves way too fast.

She has designed everything for PC. Yes, I asked beforehand if it would work with a MAC. Well, technically it does if you know how to work between a PC and a MAC. If you have only ever used MAC you will be lost before you know it.

Was it worth the $47 for these? No, I would have only purchased the first and btw I STILL don't know how to do basics like making my own cut images for my stamps, which I expected would be somewhere in these first 10 lessons, but nope, all kinds of things I will never use, but not the things I bought the machine for.

I would give the first set of lessons a B and the second set a D. So, buy at your own risk. If you are very tech savvy you will probably be OK. I use a computer 2 hours a day for the last 20 years at my job and still was not up to this level of technicality at this speed having to convert each direction from PC speak to MAC speak. Overall disappointed. Will have to find another way to learn this.

    ReplyDelete
  114. New post is up. I re-posted 7:21's comment so it won't get lost (as it was just put up).
