  1. I bought 2 of the sets of lessons from Kerri Bradford. The first one, the introductory one was excellent. The second one moved way too fast.

Pros: You watch on the screen as she does everything. The first set of classes moves at the right pace.

Cons: I just have to say her poor articulation drove me nuts. I am so sick of her saying things like "Whatcha gonna do now is try spacen (for spacing) cause it is time to learn to do alignen with four of 'em".

Set 2 moves way too fast.

She has designed everything for PC. Yes, I asked beforehand if it would work with a MAC. Well, technically it does if you know how to work between a PC and a MAC. If you have only ever used MAC you will be lost before you know it.

Was it worth the $47 for these? No, I would have only purchased the first and btw I STILL don't know how to do basics like making my own cut images for my stamps, which I expected would be somewhere in these first 10 lessons, but nope, all kinds of things I will never use, but not the things I bought the machine for.

I would give the first set of lessons a B and the second set a D. So, buy at your own risk. If you are very tech savvy you will probably be OK. I use a computer 2 hours a day for the last 20 years at my job and still was not up to this level of technicality at this speed having to convert each direction from PC speak to MAC speak. Overall disappointed. Will have to find another way to learn this.

  2. I would never buy online/video lessons from someone to begin with, but if it was something I'd be interested in, if the person spoke the way you say she does, I'd be asking for my money back. Is that an accent?

It's too bad you paid that much for her lessons. I think you can find just about anything you need online or on You Tube for free.

  11. Does anyone else want to throw up when Dawn mentions "Hottie Hubs"...snort!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Is Ashley Cannon Newell pregnant?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yes. I just checked her blog and it appears that she is with child.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Did anyone every find out what happened to "hottie hubs" first wife? I think her name was Lucretia or maybe it was Laura.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That is soooooo sad. :(

    ReplyDelete
  16. Did you guys see The Craft's Meow and There She Goes is closing?? So sad...

  17. The new WPlus9 stuff looks awesome! Can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  18. More flowers and wreaths...

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have a feeling PTI will be soon to follow.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hate to say it. But PTI won't be going anywhere for a long time. PTI does more business than all of the other small companies combined.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Me too - loving the new W Plus 9 stuff!

  22. Just opened the "new" Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking. Skipped right over the scrapbook pages. They apparently called for some cards with banners. Cynthia Baptista has a card in it that is from Dawn's Make-It-Monday several months ago. Recognized it immediately. I realize there is nothing new under the sun, but this is such a direct "inspiration" it's not even funny. I now admit that, yes, I wasted money on this subscription and didn't even open the last two issues of the magazine. It makes me wonder about the editorial board and Cynthia Baptista. WTF were they all thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  23. give it 12 months and you won't have to get all worked up about this, k?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Can you link up the Dawn version 11:32? I saw the Cynthia version and it does look familiar to me but then again the banner thing is tired and old.

  25. WPlus9 needs a new DT. Absolutely horrid projects today from the girls. Ack! On a positive note, Dawn's projects are always beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Regarding WPlus9, I have 11 of their stamp sets and 9 dies, with 2 or 3 more wishlisted waiting for a sale. I just haven't liked their designs much this year, not really into folk art or flowers right now.

Dawn's cards the last couple of days have been nice. But I already have several rose sets from other companies that have never been inked. Why buy another? And I really dislike the font this release.

    ReplyDelete
  27. That is a shame that the DT samples are not so great. Why was Savitri throwing in a project on rag dolls? Weird. I'm not so jazzed about the others either. I would love to see folks like Jeanne Jachna, Wida Miller, Joni Andaya, Meredith McRitchie on that team.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Loving the WPlus release this month and ordered it all last month. The Silver Bells set is just gorgeous and so much more versatile than the little bell set the PTI offers.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The WPlus9 stuff being released is way better than the recent PTI offerings.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have yet to see the Wplus9 stuff so far this week. Don't know if it's my computer or if their photos are just too "big" but all I can ever see on their blog is the text. I wait and wait, and try to refresh but it rarely does any good. :(

    ReplyDelete
  31. LOL 8:23!

Maybe they aren't going anywhere but I seriously doubt your claim. Don't really care but you gave me a good laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Pretty WP9 samples - but you're right, the page did take a very long time to load.

    ReplyDelete
  33. OK, I just have to unload this...

#1 - Jinny's sample here.... those flowers just look like giant red blobs. Either her ink sucks or her photography sucks. http://jinnynewlin.blogspot.com/2013/12/wplus9-decjan-release-day-3.html

#2 - HOW is that woman a former kindergarten teacher??? I realize punctuation isn't usually taught at that age, but she did have to graduate from college, didn't she??? The, unbelievable overuse of commas in her posts is ridiculous! I think she should be embarrassed to call herself a teacher!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The pages load slowly for me too on Dawn's blog but it's usually worth the wait when they finally do.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 1:35 I went back to look for commas. Wow!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. The only good thing about Lea's card were the bows. Wish I could tie them that well. That pink card was awful. The new sets are beautiful but the girls didn't do it justice. The stamping was blotchy and the color combinations were awful. Too bad.. I really like the new sets and I'll probabaly buy the floral set. Love the fonts.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I had to check out the commas too. Wow, I can't believe, how many, she used. Ha! :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. And this woman, is allowed, to educate, our children???

    ReplyDelete
  39. This one is worse. Time two teach? Apostrophes in the wrong place and spelling is horrible. Their, there? Your, you're? Really?

  41. I like reading jinny's blog with all the commas. After a while it gets hypnotic and lulls me into a state of sleepy warm fuzzies.

    ReplyDelete
  42. C'mon peeps -- what's new out there in stamp land??

    ReplyDelete
  43. I used up an entire roll of Washi tape on my Christmas cards and I am pretty proud. One fad I tried that I can feel guilt free. Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  44. So frustrated with PTI store. I need to juice up my white pad. I typed in "white pad refill", "white inkpad", "white ink" and get NOTHING!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Type in fresh snow.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't want snow. I am looking for a white ink pad. Why do none of those 3 words work? When I am looking for a broom at Amazon I don't have to type in "ATZ kitchen floor sweeping tool".

    ReplyDelete
  47. How is a person who has never ordered it before supposed to know it is called "Light Moonglow" or "The Opposite of Black" or "The Color of Paper"?

    ReplyDelete
  48. the person could ask customer service, ask on the forum or ask on nichole's blog. or not buy the ink pad or the refill. the website sucks. buy or not. get over it already

    ReplyDelete
  49. What if you don't know there is a forum?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Or this is old fashion ...go to your LSS or scrapbook store, Hobby Lobby, or Joanns. I picked up in person an awesome white ink by Hampton at Joanns.

You won't want to pay postage and wait a week anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  51. There are none of those stores within an hour of my home.

    ReplyDelete
  52. If you click on the word "Ink" then "dye ink" you will see a variety of inks. You probably want "Fresh Snow". Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 9:06 don't act like you don't know.

  57. I randomly chose 8 items that I know PTI carries. Only 2 were easy to find. 4 were found after several attempts and 2 were not found at all.

    ReplyDelete
  61. thanks to whoever shared the SAB link.

I like the See Ya Later set but a good deal of the rest in this flyer is pretty darn ugly.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You're welcome, that was me. :-) I'm not a demo, though, just searched and tried for a while.

I'm a little irritated by the bundles. It seems to suggest you would have to buy the bundles to get the free stuff. And I'm not sure, whether there is a discount on the bundles as it is not stated (and usually, this aspect was highlighted).

I like the See Ya Later, too, but I'm hoping that this set will be offered in different languages for the European market.

And I like the banner punch (and the matching stamp set)!

  62. The PTI peeks are so, so boring. I can't even remember them even though I just looked at them. The only one that comes to mind is another terrible fancy sentiment. Blech.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I forgot to even check on the sneaks until I came here. It truly is a snoozefest.

  64. 9:26, me again - - when you say you "tried," do you mean you played around with possible URLs based on old ones? I did that but finally gave up -- never would have gotten the date right on this one! thanks again

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's me, 9:26 AM: I've tried different options. First, I tried a PDF search for the site, but that does not work, if the link/file is too new.

Then I indeed played around with possible URLs based on the old ones, but I had the problem, that I did not know, when exactly the SAB starts. After I knew, I was disappointed, because it did not work, either.

Then I saw that the date of older SAB flyer would not be the start date, but the date of the announcement (unlike it seems to be with the normal & seasonal catalogues). So I tried the dates of the first postings on SU demos blogs, and then it did work. :-)

Unfortunately, I had no luck with the European flyers I was actually looking for. :-/

  66. In the past, the "Day xx sneak peek" posts on the PTI forum have quite a few responses... this month, hardly anything. Yesterday 3 responses and today 0. Lizzie and Heather are not the most popular stamp designers and it shows.

    ReplyDelete
  67. It has nothing to do with personal popularity. It has everything to do with a lack of creativity. It is like the DT have lost all their steam and couldn't care less if PTI goes down.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This "blog" was certainly more interesting when monkey ass was posting.

    ReplyDelete
  69. 1236 there is a difference in posting something worthy of discussion and posting something grasping at straws just to stir the pot.

    ReplyDelete

  76. What was the first stamp set you ever bought from PTI?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Butterfly Kisses and Green Thumb. I still use both. They are timeless.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  88. I love the big things in the sky stamp set. I don't use it very often but it's one of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I actually like Lexie's sports/masculine themed stamp sets. Her golf set, tool set, and baseball set are all really cute and great for men/boys. But the dancing set was a definite miss for me. And Heather's sets are starting to look dated to me. Not trendy or modern. They look old and tired... a lot like her all kraft all the time cards. PTI lost a lot of good designers and have replaced them with not-so-good designers.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Heather does use kraft in almost every card but I like her color combos better than the ones that Dawn uses.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I may order for the first time in a long time. Today's first 2 peeks are must haves for me.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I agree. I love both of the sneak peaks. Soooooo cute!

    ReplyDelete
  96. 3:15 I believe those sets are Lizzie's not Lexie's

    ReplyDelete
  97. Today's peek:
    1. probably a good way to sell more of an older set
    2. cute owl
    3. that sentiment does not fit very well inside the banner thingie

  100. Got an email today from Clear and Simple Stamps. Their Oven Die is on sale for 30% off. The photo accompanying the email is very cute. I click on the link.

The die is marked down from $99 to $66.50. Seriously? Who buys this shit?

    ReplyDelete
  101. it is just way too expensive. it has been marked down for "one day only" for two days in a row. love this company but their dies are pricey, sometimes out of the range of understandable. the silhouette makes these dies kind of ridiculous

    ReplyDelete
  102. even without the silhouette, the prices are outrageous. I know someone is going to say, well, if you have the money and that's what you want to spend it on then it's nobody's business. But I just don't see how it could be worth it - so you can package up some food treat and "impress" your friends with it? Spend this kind of money for something that will just be thrown away? I'd rather buy expensive ingredients for the food if I had that kind of money.

So I had never looked at the dies at that company before. Went there to see this oven die (it's a favor box). Saw in the sidebar that you can browse by price, and one option is over $100. So I click on it and I see Large Print Alphabet Dies $240.

Nowhere can I find the size of these dies, so I'd never purchase from them anyway. That's just stupid. I'll apologize if someone can tell me where the size is (I'm a little sleepy, so I may have missed it). And $60 each for the numbers and symbols! There aren't that many in there! How big are these things?!

Yeah, so not worth it. At that price, these dies have to mow my lawn and make me breakfast.

  125. omg this place has finally died. thank you jesus!!

  126. I think this can still be a useful place to share opinions, reviews, and coupon codes, if the blog owner moderates the comments. They do not seem to go away by ignoring them, and I would guess that they are causing readership and comments to go down, which is what the commenter most likely intends.

    ReplyDelete
  127. No it is not dead. I read here daily and sometimes post. It just isn't that hard to step over the juvenile and go on to the legit posts.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I still stop by daily and post when I have something to say. Yesterday it was about Clean and Simple Stamps.

Once again, nothing exciting for me in the previews. Wish there was another kid's valentine set. And I would like a valentine's set I could use for nursing home residents, meals on wheels recipients, etc. Guess I'll wait to see what Hero Arts releases on the 17th.
