Was out yesterday and did not see the release until this afternoon. Am disappointed to see the bit of alteration from Robert Browning's poem in "the best is yet to be". The actual quote is "Grow old ALONG with me/the best is yet to be" (my emphasis). Petty and quibbling on my part is likely how some will see it. However, I was ready to buy that particular set as it is what my sister and BIL have engraved in their wedding bands and I would love to make cards for them to give one another. Leaving out that word makes it a Tom Odell quote, not a Robert Browning quote. Huge difference. Oh well. I can easily print it.
I really liked everything from this release but I had to refrain from ordering the wedding themed sets. No one to give it to and I still have the few wedding sets from years back. They haven't been used. I did cave and bought the love themed dies and $5 sets.
if it bothers you to see god's name misspelled, i can assure you that those of us who have been insulted by these smack blogs are also bothered. so, all i can say is that if jesus didn't want to be misspelled he shouldn't have put himself out there.
Jesus/jesus, which ever you prefer, is not concerned with anyone keeping rules and laws, grammar or otherwise. The condition of our heart is what matters to Him and thankfully only He can rightly judge that.
You don't capitalize "god" when it is referring to a Greek or Roman god. Or goddess. You capitalize it when you refer to the Creator in Christian religions. And you capitalize the pronoun when referring to Him.
Even the Bible does not capitalize the word god every time. "You shall have no other gods before me". Ignorance of the language at a very basic level is inexcusable.
10:53 That is because the god you refer to in your post and the verse in the Bible does not refer to the only one true living God. When referring to Him you must capitalize it.
9:44, wow. I am surprised. I wonder if it is that they take their shipping and orders more seriously now or if they are seeing a significant decrease. Or perhaps a slight decrease (there are more options for buying than there were in the beginning of PTI) plus taking the business seriously. I don't know but there was a time when that was not the case. It didn't matter when you ordered, it was still going to take a week to get to you if you were one of the first orders placed, and longer if you placed an order later in the day on release day. I am glad for their customers that this change has been implemented, whatever it may be.
When the day comes that you have to answer to Him, maybe you'll think differently. Then it will be too late. Saying a prayer for you, even if you don't care.
That's great 9:44! Fast shipping indeed. Mine's just labeled for now.. I'm not sure if there is a decline or increase in sales but my shipping time has always been the same.
The Archivers store in my area seems to be struggling. I am not surprised since they treat "outsiders" rudely when their friends are there and someone outside the group wants to shop.
That shouldn't happen at Archivers or anywhere. The two that I've been to are very helpful and alert to customers - I've never experienced that. I bet if you write to HQ, they'd want info on that.
They seemed to be back to normal after the restructuring or whatever it was, But just before Small Business Saturday, they sent out this email (so I'm pretty sure they'd be really concerned if their salespeople are ignoring customers):
Anybody here a follower the Smack Center blog? It was shut down this week. I'm a little ashamed to say that I was addicted to reading it with coffee in the morning.
Not a follower of smack center but have visited once or twice before thanks to a link from the previous smack block. They sure spoke their mind. Lol! Didn't know who they were talking about since I'm not a scrapbooker so I didn't bother to visit again.
I don't think the release was boring or exciting. I still made an order of old and new stuff. I'll be receiving my goodies in January. I live overseas so it's going to take awhile but very much worth the wait.
double dog dare you to pray for me. here's a thought. please pray that my husband's lung cancer is cured and that my daughter's boyfriend does not get out of jail.
I didn't know the smack center was shut down. I had visited there a couple of times over the last few years - just briefly, wondering if there was anything about stamp companies. Not being a scrapbooker, it was like reading a foreign language -- I had no idea who or what they were talking about.
What I did understand was that there were no holds barred. There were some nasty people there.
I am quite naive apparently because I didn't realize how many people enjoying flaming on people they don't even know on anonymous smack blogs. I am sure they were beating up good friends at times! Ha.
It did go really downhill the last few months. Maybe because there wasn't enough Studio Calico mess-ups to keep the posters from attacking each other. A little like here between PTI releases. ;-)
hey please leave this smack blog alone!!! we are here to accomplish something important and cluttering up the blog with stupid stuff just takes away from our mission to make people feel bad.
I placed 2 online orders on Monday the 16th, one with PTI and one with Ellen Hutson. My Ellen Hutson order arrived yesterday (12/19.) It was shipped PRIORITY mail for $5. My PTI order just arrived at the Cincinnati sort facility on 12/19. (And I paid $7 for shipping because I only wanted some older sets and dies.)
I realize I ordered right after the PTI release and that slows things down. But dang - their shipping is STILL terribly slow. And I hate, hate, hate that they send a shipping notice when they generate the shipping label and that's 2-3 days before the package is actually shipped. I know it's beating a dead horse.......blerg.
So you placed an order at PTI on the 16th, and you say it didn't ship until the 19th? Hmmmm. I placed an order on the 18th, and it shipped the 19th. Something strange is afoot at the Circle K.
No ALL is now slowed. My Ellen Hutson order arrived in 48 hours, MFT came in 72 hours. Both of my ebay orders came in 4 days. And PTI--well 12 days until it is expected to be delivered. All during the same 2 weeks. How is it that PTI does everything so much more slowly?
are you dupes still arguing over shipping times? that's it? and someone calls someone a liar over her claim? gee, wonder what genius did that? this hobby is dying out.
So you placed your order on the 16th, and it was picked up at the warehouse on the 18th. 2 days to pack your order ( along with all of the release orders ) and have it picked up by the USPS is NOT SLOW. Ellen Hutson ships faster because she has very few orders.
I am sad to say I believe the hobby is dying. The market became saturated with it and it was like a feeding frenzy. I, myself, am not as enthused. I am even looking at paper crafts as a whole differently. I have thinned my supplies down and just have some high quality supplies left. I have been enjoying sewing more.
7:46 The hobby is not dying. You are changing. Don't speak for everyone. I've been crafting for 6 years and I'm just as excited about it now as I was when I began. Maybe smackers should spend more time creating instead of finding fault and nit-picking.
10:33 am - I'm not 2:34, but your comment got me to wondering. I placed orders the first week of January with both Ellen Hutson and PTI, and also placed orders with both of them within the last week. The difference in order numbers from January to now is about 22,000 for EH and 42,000 for PTI. For what it's worth...I was sort of surprised that EH was only about 1/2 of PTI.
First time in a while for me to take a look at the PTI home page. Seems every set/die released this month is featured on a card/project on the rotating banner that now carries a "PTI must have" logo on it. Just thought it was kind of funny that everything is a "must have" in PTI's eyes.
Re: papercrafting hobby. I think, like all hobbies, they ebb and flow. Knitting is wildly popular and then it's not so much. Same for scrapbooking, beading, cross stitch, etc. And our personal journey brings us to certain crafts for a time and place in our lives and also moves us in a different direction.
Oh my word, I just realized that your orders were almost a year apart! I guess that makes more sense. I don't think of EH as very big so those numbers don't surprise me. And actually, if you figure a period of 11 months, equals 330 days, you get around 125 orders per day for PTI which is certainly reasonable but not hugely impressive to me.
you track the order numbers and their dates? what is wrong with you people? either you really do have nothing going on in your life OR you have a lot going on and go nuts trying to escape the drama. sad
Don't you think the person was curious and just checked her email or something to see what the numbers were? Not rocket science or a huge time commitment involved. Pretty innocent curiosity, I think.
8:39 pm - I'm 1:33 pm, and it really only takes a few seconds to track. I logged in at both EH and PTI, looked at the order history, subtracted a couple of numbers, and had the results. I have a full, rewarding and incredibly blessed life, thanks.
I don't think those numbers are even close to accurate. I know that in one month they once sold out of a very, very popular set and they only had 500 on hand and said they had never sold that much of one set in a month before. Also, I ordered from EH 4 days apart and there were only 19 orders according to numbers between my first and my second order.
again I say sad. the interest in how well a company that isn't yours is doing and the time it takes to get your packages. some measure it by the minute. nuts.
Well, maybe if some of you had something to add to the conversation instead of popping on just to declare its demise, this would once again be an interesting place to visit.
I think its the same person that continually complains about slow shipping and the shipping notices. But keeps ordering of course. She sells off her PTI stuff and swears she is done with PTI but gets caught up in the release hype.
Many of you were right. It is very refreshing to break away from release crack. :-)
^^^^^^^ I just want to know how you know who the person is, what she buys and sells, and that she complains about slow shipping. I am baffled by this. Have you hired a private detective to track her moves? Is she selling new stuff or is she is a person selling off really old sets? Who IS she?
9:33 Enjoy your PTI goodies.

ReplyDeleteAs a proper name, the J in Jesus is always capitalized. It does not matter where the name is used. The J is always capitalized.
ReplyDelete^^^ You are correct. I always capitalize it.
ReplyDeleteAgree^^. Jesus is a name. You wouldn't write "thank you mary" and say its a cliche.
ReplyDeleteSomeone was blowing smoke
dear jesus, thank you for the guidance this blog is providing.
ReplyDeleteYou probably also think "god" is also ALWAYS capitalized. Such ignorance of the language is inexcusable.
ReplyDeleteFucking religious zealots! Get over yourself and leave the capitalization to the grammar nazis! Or is that Nazis?
ReplyDelete8:52 Yes, God is always capitalized. I see the haters are back. 9:34 You must be miserable.
ReplyDeleteif it bothers you to see god's name misspelled, i can assure you that those of us who have been insulted by these smack blogs are also bothered. so, all i can say is that if jesus didn't want to be misspelled he shouldn't have put himself out there.

ReplyDeleteOrdered at 9:58PM on Sunday night. Order is being delivered in Chicago today!!
ReplyDeleteYou don't capitalize "god" when it is referring to a Greek or Roman god. Or goddess. You capitalize it when you refer to the Creator in Christian religions. And you capitalize the pronoun when referring to Him.
ReplyDeleteAt least, Christians do.
Even the Bible does not capitalize the word god every time. "You shall have no other gods before me". Ignorance of the language at a very basic level is inexcusable.
ReplyDeleteThat last release stunk. No ordering from me!
ReplyDelete10:53 That is because the god you refer to in your post and the verse in the Bible does not refer to the only one true living God. When referring to Him you must capitalize it.
ReplyDelete12:22 Wow! I have no words. Just shaking my head.
ReplyDelete9:44, wow. I am surprised. I wonder if it is that they take their shipping and orders more seriously now or if they are seeing a significant decrease. ReplyDeleteI "must". Says who and how are you going to enforce that?
ReplyDeleteWhen the day comes that you have to answer to Him, maybe you'll think differently. Then it will be too late. Saying a prayer for you, even if you don't care.
DeleteWhat change? Mine used to come in 2-3 days. My shipping notice for this release shows Dec. 26 delivery. Not at all happy here.
ReplyDelete7:12 what the hell are you talking about?
ReplyDeleteREad previous posts for your answer. 12:32 would be a nice start for you.
DeleteThat's great 9:44! Fast shipping indeed. Mine's just labeled for now.. I'm not sure if there is a decline or increase in sales but my shipping time has always been the same.
ReplyDeletepraise to allah for fast shipping!

Yep. That's because PTI has become pretty inconsequential. Even their screw-ups have become pretty boring.
ReplyDeleteThey silenced the crickets there by attacking each other.
ReplyDeleteDawn's card on Berry Sorbet cardstock - not a good look.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Santa will bring her a colour chart?
LOL - great idea!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else noticed that the monkey crap.quit the same time the other blog shut down?
ReplyDeleteme love sherlock me love monkeys too

ReplyDelete7:47 - I got my "shipping" email on the 17th, but the package didn't actually arrive at the post office until the 19th.
ReplyDelete7:49 Tracking number here: 9405510200830078761116
I am another person. Ordered the 15th, didn't leave PO until yesterday. Delivery scheduled for Dec. 26. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteIt's Christmas! ALL mail delivery is slowed - whether it is PTI release time or not.

ReplyDelete2:34, I will give credence to your comment when you post here how many orders PTI had this year and how many Ellen Hutson had.
ReplyDelete7:46 The hobby is not dying. You are changing. Don't speak for everyone. I've been crafting for 6 years and I'm just as excited about it now as I was when I began. Maybe smackers should spend more time creating instead of finding fault and nit-picking.

12:11 go back and read how many times I said "I". I also said "I BELIEVE". GEEZ.
ReplyDeleteSo you believe it. So? I believe I am sick means the same as "I am sick".
ReplyDeleteME LIKE monkey butt
ReplyDeletefeel horrible about what happened.
ReplyDeleteok, i believe you are a dope

I hate to agree ... it is sad. I think this blog is dead. ;-(
ReplyDeleteLess than 80 comments in seven days.
It won't be dead until there are 0 comments. Are you dead if you don't get 80 acknowledgements in 7 days?
ReplyDeleteI am not a blog. But then this isn't a blog either, according to Monkey Sr/Jr.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to be picky, then this smack space is on its deathbed.
Well, maybe if some of you had something to add to the conversation instead of popping on just to declare its demise, this would once again be an interesting place to visit.
ReplyDeleteWhat have you added lately?
ReplyDeleteI have tired to start conversations ... but OPs quickly revert back to shipping times & tracking numbers. SMH

ReplyDeleteLooks like tracking number 9405510200830078761116 was delivered in MN on the 22nd. Delivered on a Sunday??
ReplyDeleteLots of Sunday deliveries this year in many, many places. We had 2 deliveries on Sunday, an AM and another one PM.
