  1. I haven't been craft surfing for awhile so this might be old news for some. WMS now offers metal dies to match with some of their stamp sets? Nice. Too expensive though :(

  2. I placed an order with Joann.com on Cyber Monday. I just got a shipping notice tonight. Are they always this slow? I would think an operation like that would have added staff for holiday shopping. Frigging ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I saw that and I agree that they are too expensive. You would think die cutting machines owned by so many would make them have to offer dies at better prices.

  4. To 7:28 the first - Joann.com has never been incredibly speedy in my experience - seems to me if I order over a weekend, I usually get a shipping notice on Tuesday or Wednesday I placed an order last Sunday and just got my shipping notice yesterday; I know that last weekend in addition to the Cyber Monday deals, they had a promo for free shipping on any size order, so I'm guessing they probably got a lot of smaller orders, which would slow down shipping times more than normal.

I'm not offering excuses for them; they just aren't a place that I order from if I know I need something fast.

  5. Regarding Joann.com, I don't order all that often, but they did have some good prices and shipping deals over Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. I ordered on 11/30 and again on 12/2 (stocking up on Distress and Memento reinkers). The two order numbers were 56,484 apart. My first order arrived today, 12/9. I'm not that far from a warehouse, so it usually arrives the day after shipping.

  6. And if they pack it fast they send it by snail and it moves really slow. Nope.not speedy at all.

  7. Not a fan of Joann online - I've had all kinds of problems with them.

As I was sorting through my stamps and choosing what was for sale - and the PTI stack was getting bigger - the thought crossed my mind of why I still look at the peeks. It used to be nostalgia (the same reason I'll still look at the SU catalog), but now I think it's because I want to reassure myself that I'm not missing out on anything by not buying from PTI. And I get some ideas from their DT, too. But they don't really have anything that special anymore.

There was conversation about Amuse awhile back . I have some friends that buy from there but I think if they're not doing well it's because they don't have anything exclusive or really special. All of their stuff you can get somewhere else.

That's where I think SU does well - they innovate. Even though I used to think of them as the old fogey stamp company, in the area of accessories, embellishments and tools, I think they are the best at coming out with new stuff.

  8. Interesting note from Danielle's blog today, rather telling on SC? "I have also decided not to renew my contract with Studio Calico. Their contract has changed for next year, and after giving it some thought, it just doesn't fit with what I need right now." http://danielleflanders.blogspot.com/2013/12/when-one-door-closes.html

  9. Since There She Goes is closing, I ordered 3 stamp sets. They were accepted at the Post Office on Dec 5, but as of last night there was no other tracking info. I just figured that they would show up in my mailbox today without ever being scanned again.

Wrong! This morning there is additional tracking info. My order was processed in Coppell, TX overnight and left there this morning. It originated in McKinney, TX. So the USPS Priority Mail package took from Dec 5 to Dec 10 to travel...

    ...33 miles!

  10. I may be in the minority, but I couldn't care less when folks leave a DT. There are so many reasons for leaving and honestly, none of them are my business:)

The sneak peeks today are not good. I like Mama Elephant's peeks betters. Also, those felt owls that Ashley made are downright scary.

    ReplyDelete
  11. several DT walked away from SC. wish folks would not hint at the reason. someone spill please. I am curious why folks leave it the reason is related to the company. I'm nosey

    ReplyDelete
  12. Unity is also going under. I placed an order with them on Dec. 1 and still don't have a confirmation or tracking number. I am concerned they may have taken the money and run.

I love the stitches addition today. I thought I would like the owl but I already have similar owl stuff.

Anyone wonder what that "times a hundred" is doing in such an awkward place on Nichole's card? Once again another clumsy sentiment.

Dawns cards make me feel woozy.

The banner set it pretty boring.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't think unity is going under. They're just slow shippers. I've never gotten speedy service from them but they do have some cute/unusual stuff!

  14. 9:36. There was an severe ice storm that could have caused problems somewhere along the path of your package.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 5:35 - Thanks so much! I'm 9:36, and had totally forgotten about TX being part of that storm system. Even though I live in the north now, I spent years in TN and AL, and know first-hand how even a little winter weather overwhelms the meager equipment the road crews have. Ok, I forgive the Post Office this time.

The first winter we lived here, one morning we got 6 inches of snow, and school wasn't even delayed. We were used to a quarter of an inch paralyzing the entire region.

    1. No problem! I would not have understood the impact it had except that I have direct contact with people who live in the area and they were pretty much homebound!

  16. Today's peeks were pretty dull but I am quite sure I will order the Stitched Addition set.

    ReplyDelete
  17. 10:22 I agree and I will probably be ooreeeinf the additions too.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thank goodness I don't do valentine cards or love cards else I'd be in trouble. I do like the stitched addition set. And the banner set is cheap at $9. I might finally be able to order the city scene collection.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I checked the PTI sneak peaks and I love them all.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Another day of dullsville for PTI. The new stuff is so old ladyish! Absolutely no interest. Again.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Not thrilled with today's peeks at all and for heaven's sakes, does Dawn only have a stack of the most garish pink, blue, and green cardstock and inks? Why don't they send her a few packages of other non-neon colors? Looks like she loaned Heather a few sheets of her pink so that Heather wasn't just stuck with Kraft and dark green today.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'll take Heather's colors over Dawn's any day!

I think for this theme, the release isn't exactly exciting but certainly looks nice.

But I don't do much for these sorts of occasions. I have a wedding sentiment and Congratulations, and can always write the rest of the message inside. And I can use flowers or leaves or something more graphic, or just embossing folders or dies to gussy it up. Sure don't need a special stamp set for this kind of message.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also, for cards you rarely make, you can just keep a document file of sentiments you find that you like, and then print them out when you need them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Doesn't PTI give their DT members inks & papers in all of the PTI colors?

Why does Dawn mainly use just two bizarre combinations, red/pink with Pure Poppy & Raspberry Fizz or that blue-green combo Hawaiian Shores & Ripe Avocado?

WTH?? She's got dozens of other colours!! I know Heather only uses Kraft cardstock. But the other DT members manage to mix it up a bit more.

    ReplyDelete
  25. And she's done that for a long time.... then Nichole started using those two, especially the Hawaiian shores and I think an even brighter green. The combination is nauseating.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I really like the "love" die frame but have no idea where to use it. I am liking the previews but have to resist buying the love themed stamps and dies. I might buy the champagne/wine glass stamp and die. I can use that for new year cards or congratulations cards.

    ReplyDelete
  27. My two cents about Dawn's colors. It might be what she really likes. Her go to colors? I like the variety of color schemes the DT put out. I love Betsy and Melissa P's colors. I used to love Michelle's card samples too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Looks like they are going out of business or else just emptying their inventory completely:

    Unity Stamp Company
    HUGE DOT SALE going on!
    BIG MARK DOWNS!
    EVERYTHING 50% or more off!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks 10:08. I still have their wood/plastic handles sitting unused on my table.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Unity always has a sale going on. They're like Macy's. Always a sale. I've heard they don't make your stamps until they're ordered. They're slow to ship but made in America.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 7:27 pm,
I would hope that she uses them because she likes them.
But she should change it up - all the DT members should try changing it up at least occasionally - to appeal to more existing customers, to attract new customers and to generate more sales.

  32. The $5 heart stamp set I was expecting increased to $15. Will have to wait for the full reveal before I decide to buy. New tag dies..looks cute.

    ReplyDelete
  33. is it too early for monkey smack?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think the heart stuff is way over-priced.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree, except for the stitch additions.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Boring. That's all.

    ReplyDelete
  37. this non blog is dead. thank you jesus

    ReplyDelete
  38. you are most welcome, my child.

  39. sacrilegious!!! look into your soul. your heart. your bag of sequins.

  40. love everything about the PTI release this month.

    ReplyDelete
  41. NuttyLou is still stalking the PTI blog. Love it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Today's peeks just looked junky to me.

    ReplyDelete
  43. PTI is having a holiday discount!!!! Awesome. 13% off tomorrow only. Use code YEAHLIKETHATISEVERGOINGTOHAPPEN

    ReplyDelete
  44. Why is the Heart stamp set $15 instead of $5? The other coverplate stamp sets were always $5, weren't they?
I was about to order for the first time in a long while. Oh well, saved some $$$.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 12:52, I almost wet my pants until I read your ending comment.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thank you 12:52! HAHA

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think all of this stitchery is making pti look very old ladyish.

    ReplyDelete
  48. ^^^^In that case you would not want to shop at Anthropologie because they have the stitchery stuff all over the place right now. Same at Forever 21.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ^^^ Maybe they do a better translation of it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anyone up on Hunger Games enough to know if Lexi actually copied the artwork or did she do a variation of it?

I didn't mind the first HG movie, but kids killing kids is not something I want my tween to read about or watch. Once she knew what it was about, she had no interest either. Even as an adult, it made my skin crawl.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Stitching can go Bohemian or folk (good), or old lady samplers and pillows (not so good).

I wonder if Nichole wants the dt to stick to their "thing." Maybe she figures it gives good balance to the whole team. You have Heather with earthy, Melissa P with shabby chic, Dawn with wild colors, Lauren and ... Erin is it? CAS.... etc. There's something to be said for having a well-rounded representation of stamping styles. Kwim? Some are uncategorizable though.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm not very sentimental so don't really have heartsy stuff... may just make the leap and fill out my collection with this stuff. I think that set is more because there are a lot of sentiments in it?

The one I don't like though is the one about room in your heart. The saying is fine but it's split all wrong. "Room" should still be on the other line - I think having two lower case lines and then "in your heart" in upper case would be better.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm curious. Not ordering, but do you think any of the orders will arrive by Christmas? I think its doubtful.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Maybe but it will be cutting it close. Lately they take 8-10 days to get to me and they used to take 2-3.

  56. so another smacker finally sees the light. thank you jesus!

    ReplyDelete
  57. PTI giving away free stamp set with $70 purchase. Ruby Reprise. Thank you jesus!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Can you please capitalize Jesus? You capitalize your own name, right? I dont mean to be bitchy, buy come on!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm so confused. Why would a smacker care about how JESUS' name is spelt?

    ReplyDelete
  60. The same reason a smacker is thanking Jesus.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Why would a man who died hundreds of years ago care about an anonymous smack blog?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Actually He died thousands of years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thousands is many hundreds. So technically, not incorrect.

    ReplyDelete
  64. #1 When "jesus" is used as part of a cliche, it should not be capitalized. Just like the word "bible" is only capitalized when it is the Holy Bible one is referring to. If you say something is the bible of sewing, it is not capitalized.

#2 I sure with the DT would have different blogs for their different companies. When I am looking through the PTI review release it is horribly frustrating to find SC, Paper Smooches, Echo Park, etc, strewn in between and intermixed.

#3 Yes, I will order. I have to have 2 of those Ruby Reprise sets so will be placing 2 orders of $75 each so I get max points, free shipping, and free sets.

4-I predict the Stitches Addition will sell out.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I am trying to understand ...in the cliche "jesus" means what?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I thought the points get carried over? I was surprised to see a free set, a very nice one at that. I honestly think some of their sets would sell more if they were $10 instead of $15.

    ReplyDelete
  67. They do get carried over, but if you buy $74 you get 2 points and if you buy $75 you get 3 points. They do not carry over the $24 from your $74 purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Meaning that the person was using jesus as a term of expression and not referring to the man. Just like I might say kiddo to my child instead of Marcene. I don't capitalize kiddo.

    ReplyDelete
  69. thank you Jesus/jesus for the kind discussions of your name. and mary and joseph too!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Has Ruby Reprise made a difference in whether you would order or how much you would order?

    ReplyDelete
  71. no, i was not planning on ordering and will not order.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Does anyone here follow Studio Calico? I don't but I am curious as to why so many designers from last year (a lot of the PTI and Hero Arts designers) have left? One of the PTI designers mentioned a change in contract. What is that all about? Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I read on the scrap smack blog that just got deleted (linked above) that they will now be compensated based on how many followers they have and how many click-throughs their blog posts generate.

    ReplyDelete
  74. 8:48 Jesus cares about every aspect of your life and, yes, he cares what you say on a smack blog. He did die thousands of years ago but remember, He rose from the dead so He is ALIVE.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Actually, I think that is fair to DT's. In fact, I think that idea makes good sense.

Dead people coming back to life is kind of creepy to me.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thank you for the reply about the PTI points 3:33.

    ReplyDelete
  77. 11:02 She HAS seen the light. Sometimes a person has to be completely broken to realize what is really important in life. I hope things get better for her.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I do love how the free set was showcased by Nichole. I just have to plan my order to get max points

    ReplyDelete
  79. PTI points ARE cumulative and they do keep track of the $24.00.... the points are based on total purchases at .04 points per dollar spent.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well, it doesn't work that way for me Carol. I keep track of my yearly product total and in that case I am 9 points short.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Email customer service and they can do an audit...

    ReplyDelete
  82. Now is it you, Carol? Or was that a cliche and it should have been carol? Lol

    ReplyDelete
  83. That freebie set got me!

    ReplyDelete
  84. It was an added bonus for me. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I am hoping for a good anniversary set so I can use some of my points. Love the Ruby Reprise freebie. Excited to get my package.

    ReplyDelete
  86. This is the first time in a couple of years I have ordered and I am excited about getting my package.

    ReplyDelete
  87. As a proper name, the J in Jesus is always capitalized. It does not matter where the name is used. The J is always capitalized.
